Fort Emerald

Peace reigned over the land of Oscania, so there wasn't a whole lot for the soldiers of Fort Emerald to do. Not that Callum was complaining, of course. He'd rather be bored out of his mind then be shot at overseas.  For the most part, Callum spent his time eating with his bunkmates....

From left to right: Private Second Class Callum Turner, Private Arthur Cunningham, Private Charles Griffiths, Lieutenant General Daniel Smith, and General Laura Drake.

...playing kickybag outside with his fellow soldiers....

Boo, General Drake cried, you suck!

....and getting to know the local women, such as Lady Beatrice Norton and Josephine, the local madam of the brothel next door.

He took a shine to Lady Beatrice, giving her a backrub, telling her how tense she was.

There was also time for poker games. Lots and lots and LOTS of poker games.

This is when I deleted all but one of the poker tables and two chairs because it was ALL they did, and it got annoying.

Lady Beatrice Norton wasn't the only woman to come by the base. Arthur brought home Princess Alexandra after school one day. After her brother, Robert, she was next in line for the throne of Oscania.

Despite having strong feelings for Lady Eliza, he couldn't help but be attracted to the teenage princess. What harm could it do? Sure they went to the same private school, but she was a princess and he was there on a military scholarship. He'd heard that she was dating Hugh Norman, a viscount and marquess to be  anyway, so what chance did he have with her?

Callum was unapologetically a ladies' man. Who could resist him in his uniform?

"I do agree that it's nice to meet new people, Private Turner," Darcy said
"Please, call me Callum," he grinned.

Callum had no problem making the ladies of Oscania putty in his hands.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Daniel Smith had eyes for one woman only: Darcy.

Daniel did not care that Darcy worked at the brothel; he knew she was more than that.

Callum's next conquest-to-be was Lady Eliza Norton. He'd met he sister briefly, but had forgotten her when she went off to college at Academie Le Tour, like all the rich people. He had briefly entertained the idea of marrying Beatrice: he'd be son in law to a duke and his uncle in law a prince! And maybe his kids with her would be little lords and ladies.

"I love you, I do," Lieutenant General Daniel said as he pulled Darcy in for a kiss.
"I love you, too," Darcy said. She was thankful for her luck: this soldier saw her not as a whore, but as a woman. She would do anything for him.

As the relationship between Daniel and Darcy deepened, so too the relationship between Callum and Eliza.

Callum didn't let his relationship--or whatever it was--with Eliza dampen his spirits. He continued to woo whatever woman came his way.

"You're hot!"
"You're hot, too, so let's be hot together!"

Pretty soon it was time for Charles and Arthur to go off to college. Like their more noble peers, they'd also be attending Academie Le Tour.

Of course, Callum and Daniel still had their military duties to attend to. It wasn't all seducing the women of Oscania.

Callum still found plenty of time to work his magic on women.

Daniel had decided to make things with Darcy more serious. He asked her to live on base with him, and he agreed.

Not long after, he proposed and Darcy happily accepted.

Soon it was time for Daniel and Darcy's wedding.

Soon Darcy felt the pangs of nausea. Was she pregnant already, so soon after the wedding?

Despite Callum's multiple conquests, only one stood above the rest: Phoebe.

He discarded the other women--save Eliza; he still hoped to become the son-in-law of a duke--and turned his attention only to her. Pretty soon, Callum realized he had deep feelings for her. But Callum was ambitious: he could only sleep with Phoebe, not marry her.

Meanwhile, Daniel and Darcy were expecting their first child.

The women of the brothel continued to come by to visit their sister who had done so well for herself.  Natalie was truly happy for Darcy. But she knew that if she couldn't get Callum to marry her, she would at least have a child by him.

Despite not being Darcy's baby's father, he couldn't help but be goofy with the baby, playing peek-a-boo.

Both Callum and Daniel continued to be happy in their relationships.  Daniel may have made Darcy his wife, but Callum maintained that Natalia would only ever be his mistress. He had loftier goals: he knew Lady Eliza had gone off to college, but he hadn't forgotten her.

Poor Laura in the background there. There just wasn't a lot for me to do with her. :(
